What Gives?

you’re on your train it’s on time on schedule and everything is going smoothly but sometimes along the way a delay happens here’s why since so many trains travel at one time and in different directions trains often have to change tracks to do so a train has to go over a device called a switch a switch connects a train traveling from one track on to another when a switch is not working properly a signal beside it changes from green to red warning an approaching train to stop causing a delay the switch then has to be moved manually by the train engineer before it can advance on to the other track once the train is past the switch it then has to be manually line or moved back to its original straight position before the train can continue furthering a delay since switches are exposed to the elements rocks stones and debris can be kicked up and fall in between the track and switch causing the device to not work properly in colder months ice and frozen rock underneath trains can fall in between switches as well with that said we regularly inspect and maintain our switches to help reduce delays in winter we’ve installed hot air blowers to melt any fallen ice and we pay extra attention during sub-zero temperatures and other weather emergencies at go we know a switch delay can switch your schedule from on time to delay but we’re constantly improving our service and will never stop trying that’s a promise to learn more about your go train visit go transit calm
