    Metro train concept and difference with main line train Today I will explain metro train concept, Metro is short of Metropolitan, Metro is designed, for travel with in metropolitan city, Metro train is for frequent start stop, Main line train are, designed for long distance travel Both have different requirements, Here I explain difference, between main and metro train, Main train means, train for long distance travel, main train has 1 engine, and many coaches for passengers, Main train engine have, motors, driver cabin, converter, inverter etc, Metro train is not like this, metro is a set of 3 or 4 cars, all 3 are passenger coaches, here driver cabin is in front, here driver cabin is this side, and here also, driver cabin is in both sides, here motor is located in engine, in Metro, motor is located in many cars, So Engine’s converters, driver desk, motors, and sitting for passengers, are distributed in metro train, If we want big metro train, then we will add 2 sets of 3, so total 3+3=6 coaches, similarly 2 set of 4 will make, 8 coaches metro train, 3 cars of the set are called as, DMC, MC & TC, DMC means driving motor car, MC means motor car, TC means trailer car, these are just typical types, many more car types are possible, this is 3 car arrangement, DMC type is used at both ends of train, TC type car is in middle, D means driver, DMC car has driver cabin, so driver cabin is at both the ends, for this direction of train, driver is here, for other direction of train, driver will be here, train can be controlled, from both driver desk (cabin), Just I showed 3 car system, this is 6 car arrangement, there are 6 cars are here, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 DMC type is used at both ends, here DMC car, here also DMC type, so driver cabin is, at both ends of metro train 2 MC type car are used, 2 TC type car are used, motors are located at many places, this will improve acceleration, In main line train, driver and motor are in engine only, other coaches for passengers, In metro, passenger will be in all the cars, this is, technical method to show, car arrangement in metro, Just I showed you 3 car type metro, DMC car was at both the ends, and TC was in the middle, so DMC-TC-DMC, is a method of writing, I showed 6 car Metro train also, DMC was at both ends, 2 MC type, 2 TC type, this is also same, this can be written like, DMC-TC-MC-MC-TC-DMC also, 4 car set may be like, DT-M-M-DT, Many arrangements are possible, here power supply for the train, main line train, require 25 KV AC supply, but in case of metro train, some metro, are designed for 25 KV AC, some metro, require DC supply, Generally DC will be 750 Volt, 1500 V DC, is also used in some places, problem with AC is, It is difficult to manage, 25 KV AC in under ground, due to space limitation, so 750V DC is more popular now days, IGBT based VVVF type control system, is used to control motor, VVVF means, variable voltage variable frequency, voltage & frequency, both control, are used to control motor, 3 phase induction motor is used, for both DC or AC supply, here a formula is shown, Force=Mass X acceleration, acceleration indicates, change in speed, metro train require, frequent start and stop operation, so metro is designed, for high acceleration, for fast start and stop, now, for more value of “a”, “F” should be more, and “m'” should be less, “m” is the mass of the train, so attempt is made, to reduce mass of the cars, that is called light weight cars, but main train, does not require to many start stop, so main train, is designed for high speed, so metro and main train have, different control arrangements, Train runs on 2 rails, distance between 2 rails, are indicated by gauge, Gauge used in India are, broad gauge, meter gauge and narrow gauge, Main train in India, use generally broad gauge rails, For broad gauge, distance between 2 rails=1676 mm. There are many types of gauges, one of the gauges is, standard gauge, For standard gauge line, distance between 2 rails is 1435 mm, Now days, for metro train, Generally standard gauge is used, standard gauge is, most popular gauge in world, metro train track , have independent tracks, Today, we will close now,

    Sydney Metro: Arthur Whitling Park, Castle Hill

    [Music] Originally this site was Arthur Whitling Park, so it was a park for the local community around here, with the houses and the shopping centre. Back in about 2015 construction started where they excavated a 25 metre deep, 200 metres long, 20 metres wide box to allow the tunnel boring machines to do their work for the tunnels. [Music] Part of our construction involved reinstating Arthur Whitling Park The elements of the park include some of the heritage elements that we’re reinstating. There’s an old tramway signal from the original trams that used to run through here, so we’ll reinstate that. There’s some heritage trees. There are 168 trees to go into Arthur Whitling Park, and about 8,000 square metres of soft landscaping. [Music] The skylights allow natural light into platform level, so that allows natural sunlight to go 25 metres down into the box to connect people back up to the outside world when they’re down waiting for a train. The skylights are designed to be interactive in this park space so that people can feel a part of it and sit on them while they have their lunch or have a break from their day-to-day life. [Music]

    Detroit Light Rail – Bright Side 3

    Our next segment will focus on an exciting
    project coming soon to Detroit. The M1 Woodward Avenue light rail project will connect downtown
    Detroit with the city limits at 8 mile road. It will be one of the first mass transit light
    rail projects in the state of Michigan. So the city of Detroit in 2006 started analyzing.
    If we’re going to build rapid transit somewhere in Detroit, where should be do it and what
    should it be? And they decided after several years of study that it should be a light rail
    type of line and it should be right along Woodward Avenue. So for at least five years now the city of
    Detroit has been working on developing light rail. A lot of cities around the country have
    a light rail. It’s an on street rail line where the rail is built right into the ground
    and there are overhead electric lines. So its’ a lot like a bus in that it drives on
    the street, but it’s a lot faster and generally more reliable, more attractive, more convenient
    than regular busses are. Fully a third of the people within the city
    of Detroit don’t have their own cars, and so they really need to have other transportation
    choices. But even more so, in city after city around the country in communities that have
    developed light rail you’ve seen enormous economic development. People want to live
    and work and shop and play near convenient public transit. And so developers know that
    and they really build a lot of new hotels and lofts and condos and restaurants in much
    more dense, walkable communities. So we really believe that this Woodward light
    rail can be an economic development catalyst for the city of Detroit. They actually just completed a critical step
    on developing an environmental impact study which the federal government requires, and
    making the final decisions about where exactly the line’s going to go, where the stops are
    going to be. They’ve lined up most of the funding at this point and they’re going to
    be moving into the detailed engineering. Construction could start as early as next year and should
    be… we should be riding in about 2015. I really see Detroit and really this whole
    region is at a bit of a fork in the road. We’ve obviously had some enormous difficulties
    and there is a chance that if we don’t make some major changes in how we develop and how
    we invest in making Detroit a place people really want to be, we really could continue
    down on a downward spiral. But I think we’re also at a cusp of something
    much greater. There’s so many people who are excited to make a positive difference in Detroit
    and are trying their little piece at a time. I don’t think that the light rail will necessarily
    solve all of Detroit’s problems but it could really be a catalyst to focusing a lot of
    the development, a lot of the new energy, a lot of the new entrepreneurial spirit along
    this Woodward corridor and really demonstrate what’s possible in Detroit in a very exciting
    and positive way. I really do think that this Woodward light
    rail project can be a catalyst for something great for Detroit

    First, we`ll look at the English announcement of the Tokaido, Sanyo, Kyushu Shinkansen Many people may have heard this voice before, What kind of person do you think, does the voice of the Shinkansen? An American! Maybe Japanese? Arabian? Arabian?! I thought she had a British accent We asked JR Tokai through phone what kind of person voiced the announcement We found out that it was a woman living in Tokyo ! And so, we went to her office in Roppongi… Apparently the person who voiced the announcement is here I can hear some music… Here, we saw a western woman singing with a band Is she the person who voiced the announcement for the Tokaido Shinkansen? Yes Please do the announcement! Oh yes, It is this voice! Yes, this is the person who voiced the English announcement for the Shikansen. Australian, Donna Burke I`m Donna Burke I have been living in Tokyo for 21… years She`s a representative for the agency for foreign artists She does narrating, voice acting, acting herself and is a vocalist for the band Ganime The most inspiring job Thank you JR Donna has voiced the Shinkansen from 10 years ago At the audition for the announcement job… She told us that the Japanese stations names were really difficult certainly, there are announcements like these… So, out of the approximately 50 stations, which one was the hardest to pronounce? I see, so even if you knew how to pronounce “Hakata” in Japanese, saying that word naturally in English was very difficult The actual “Hakata” used on the Shinkansen is this… Even in her home town Australia, she has been known as the “Shinky-Lady” and has been introduced in various medias Are there any other voices you`ve done? True! For the Mazda AD… is Donna`s voice! We hear it a lot right? This time, she has announced especially for this show

    Eliminating Grosvenor Metro Turnback

    It’s official. You spoke and they
    listened. Metro’s Board of Directors have approved an increase in rush-hour
    service to Rockville’s Metro stops. Starting in December, all Red Line trains
    will continue to Shady Grove, instead of turning around earlier. This doubles the
    amount of trains arriving at the Rockville, Twinbrook and White Flint
    stations. Previously, half of all Red Line trains would start and turn around at
    Grosvenor-Strathmore station, forcing longer wait times on Rockville’s
    commuters. A recent public outreach survey confirmed that 70 percent of Red
    Line riders wanted this increase in service. For more information about this
