Studio One is inspired by Cubase, right?

I'm very very impressed so far. Now let's see if scratch pad can actually work as good as it looks.

Oh look, Presonus invented regions sorry, the Arranger Track.
The Scratch Pads seams to be kinda nifty though.

It didn't mention/clarify whether you could actually alter the note [midi & audio], controller, event, etc. content of tracks in scratch pad without altering the original tracks.

You really ARE big time…Riding the coat tails of every beta team in the land lol.

Wow, Presonus just took a huge crap on Pro Tools and Logic with this Studio One 3 release….I'm a long time Ableton Live user, but as everyone knows Ableton is not very mix friendly; its decent but Ableton favors production, DJing, and sound design. So I'm constantly looking to see what DAWs will give me a better mixing interface…Studio One 3 may be the one. I bought Logic yesterday and Pro Tools 6 mos ago and I'm still wondering if those were good choices, and time will tell, but i may try some Studio One 3 and see if i feel comfortable with that…we'll see.

Is there any way to fix a bug present since 2.6, going on in 3.0 – cannot select a pre-roll and autopunch at the same time. One deselects the other. It's a known issue on the forums and has happened to me and a friend of mine. Please help us out. I was hoping v. 3 would fix this 🙁

These features look amazing!! As a user of Ableton for the last 10 years I'm very tempted to give Studio One a try – there seems to be some great workflow innovations!

Thanks, very useful Mr Burns!  ;O)

Lovely new features! The Scratch Pad idea is awesome and will be incredibly useful to my workflow! The person who came up with this deserves a medal! 😉
Only thing I'm still really missing is Pre-Record for Midi/VSTi's.
Please! I've lost so many good ideas, while just jamming around without pressing rec..
Or have I just not found it yet?

  • Reply Legaceybeats May 22, 2015 at 10:39 am

wow i love it. It's still missing an on-screen keyboard for quick access to synthesizers and for other demonstration purposes without a midi controller, but it still looks great it runs great and it does things that no other DAW can.

Holly crap the Scratch Pad feature is amazing. (sometimes i get lost changing things Midi) Yet Shame Scratch Pad won't somehow do the  effort to Synth settings. E.G you click on Scratch Pad you can change settings and if you go back to arranger view it goes back to settings which you had it on Would be another awesome idea

Scratch Pads is such amazing invention.congratulations guys. I'm long time Ableton user.  Before I was Cubase user and I have always struggled with the way that I have multiple versions of individual track in one project. This is amazing thing 🙂 Any cahance to incorporate something like Ableton's clip launcher in Studio ONe?
btw I use you AudioBox 22vsl card and I love it.

All of the delays and reverb and whatever left overs bleed over to whatever tracks you paste next to.  It sound really messy if you have any processing on your mix.  Does someone have a work around for this?  I was impressed, but after using this particular feature, not so much.  S1v3 is great, but I'm not getting Scratch pad.  What do I do with all this bleed?

Hey Presonus, there is a big bug with this new arranger track feature… when deleting a whole range from the timeline, Studio One sometimes messes up all crossfades on the right side of the deleted range. The same issue appeares with the "delete time" funktion. Can somebody confirm? I tried different systems and versions, every time the same strange behaviour… like this it is not usable.

presonus took a step ahead of the competition with this release

  • Reply dasdasdasdass August 6, 2015 at 9:00 pm

2:57 sorry for telling you this but Ableton Session View is exactly same and as far as I remember fl studio has same feature for experimenting arrangements. so, its not new. it still looks pretty cool though…

I've started sequencing in 1989 with Atari 1040STFM and a Cubase…It's been a long way to go…But I have to say, that Studio One 3 is the best DAW ever that i've been using. Extremely fast and intuitive. I've been using Cakewalk, Ableton, Reason, Cubase and Logic. I'll never go back.

hi presonus i cant find it no where what if the arranger track for example the vocals have a tail that goes past the mark is there anyway to keep the tail passing the mark. so another way to say this is the verse is 8 bars but as the end of the verse u went a little over 8 bars lets say 2 words when i use the arranger it chops the last 2 words of the vocals any way around this

Why only tell us the Mac keys? Did You forget that the program is also compatible with PC???

  • Reply Andre Christoph Wiedmann March 1, 2016 at 3:23 am

Scratch Pad looks absolutely pointless to me…i can't see the difference between working on a "scratch pad" and a simple copy of that song part anywhere behind the arrangement. Why would i have to "scratch" in a new window ? i don't get it. And the arranger track, though it looks nice, but these things can easily be done with folder tracks in other DAWS since ages, just without the naming.

Is there a way to edit settings in scratchpad? I hate that the loop is always set when its opened.. ive lost a cpl spur of the moment ideas when i switched over to rec real fast and forgot the loop was engaged and instead of having an override when recording it'll just record over and over just in the space for the pre selected loop.. i know thats all my fault but to avoid in future i'd like to just not have it be on when opened.. any help much appreciated

This is similar to Digital Performer"s Chunks and Songs feature but Chunks frankly does a lot more. Still it's nice to see Presonus making strides..

Why don't I have the icon for the arranger? It's not there.

  • Reply Sockfoot December 27, 2016 at 4:06 am

Do experimental adjustments in the scratch pad area to plug-ins used on tracks, effect those plug-ins settings in the main section? Are they independent of each other and also does using the scratch pad in this manner require more resources from your computer?

Looks like a good feature. But quick and crucial question:
Do changes to scratchpads update throughout the song?? (or can they be made to do this?)
ie, if you create a scratchpad named say, "Verse-beat", and then place five of these in the main song window. Then afterwards go back to the original scratchpad and make some changes to it, then can you get the edits (to the "Verse-beat" scratchpad) to automatically cascade back ie appear in the five 'clone' sections which came from the original scratch pad?

For me this would be the main added-value. If it can do this, then you can make the song truly modular (like in FL Studio) and save an enormous amount of work, especially when going back to edit a song — eg. where you have multiple instances of an identical pattern — such as in EDM compositions.
