THIS IS THE THIRD FEDERAL GRANT TO BRING HIGH- SPEED SERVICE FROM SPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS TO HARTFORD TO NEW HAVEN. IT ALSO PROVIDES BETTER CONNECTIVITY FROM CANADA TO VIRGINA.(DEPUTY COMMISSIONER) (14:49:37 – THESE TRAINS ARE GONIG TO CONNECT PEOPOLE TO FAMILIES, SCHOOLS TO JOBS TO OPPORTUNITY.)(15:05:31 – THIS STATE IS ONE THAT GETS IT, AND YOU SAW THAT WIT HTHE HIGH-SPEED PROGRAM, AND IT’S NOW A REGIOANL ASSET THAT’S GOING TO BE TRANSFORMED FROM NEW ENGLAND AND CANADA DOWN TO VIRGINIA.)THE STATE IS ALREADY INVESTING MILLIONS IN THE NEW BRITAIN TO HARTFORD BUSWAY PROJECT, AND IS PROMISING 174 MILLION IN THIS ENDEAVOR – WE ASKED THE GOVERNOR IS THE STATE OVER-EXTENDING ITSELF IN TOUGH TIMES?(15:09:25 – YOU GOTTA START TELLING THE TRUTH. THE STATE UNDER-INVESTED, TAHT’S WHY WE LOST JOBS FOR 22 YEARS IN A ROW NET BASIS. WHEN YOU ARE NOT REBUILDING YOUR INFRASTRUCTURE AND NOT EXPANDING YOUR INFRASTRUCTURE, YOU LOSE.) THE ACUTAL FIRST PHASE OF CONSTRUCTION BEGINS LATER THIS MONTH – INSTALLATION OF UNDERGROUND COMMUNICATION CABLES.TRAIN SERVICE SHOULD BEGIN BY 2016 – AND INCLUDE 34 TRIPS A DAY.

    This is a much better and more important cause than the busway, too bad it's going to take 4 years to simply lay a second track on land Amtrak already has.

    It's not going to take 4 years. Amtrak has already done almost 50% of the cable project and part of the trackwork is supposed to start in 2014. The line is older and hasn't been updated in years so allot of the infrastructure needs to be done as well. This is a good project while the busway is just a waste of money

    technically trains need to be running at 125 mph. if trains run at 110, it is just a fast commuter rail.

    Passenger rail service hasn't turned a profit since the 1940s.
