STREETS IN THE AREA WERE SHUTDOWN WHILE EVERYTHING WAS CLEANED UP. HEADS UP TO DRIVERS EXPECT TRAFFIC DELAYS TODAY, PARTS OF CRENSHAW BOULEVARD ARE NOW CLOSED AS CONSTRUCTION FOR A $2 BILLION METRO PROJECT OFFICIALLY KICKS OFF. CBS 2 SHOWS US. IF YOU DRIVE DOWN CRENSHAW BOULEVARD, YOU’LL HAVE TO HIT THE BRAKES AT 60TH STREET. THAT’S GOING TO BE A LOT OF INCONVENIENCE. STARTING TODAY THE BUSY THOROUGHFARE WILL BE SHUTDOWN FOR SEVERAL WEEKS AS CREWS BEGIN CONSTRUCTION OF THE CRENSHAW LAX TRANSIT PROJECT. IT’S VERY IMPORTANT BECAUSE THIS COMMUNITY HASN’T HAD ANY TRANSIT OPTION THE WAY IT’S GOING TO HAVE FROM NOW ON. THEY WILL CONNECT WITH THE NETWORK, OR RAIL, AND THE METRO SYSTEM, AND THEY WILL TRAVEL ALL OVER THE COUNTY. THE 8.5-MILE LINE WILL CONNECT THE GREEN AND EXPO LINES, CRENSHAW BOULEVARD FROM 60TH TO 67TH STREETS WILL BE CLOSED IN THREE PHASES, WITH WORK EXPECTED TO BE COMPLETE IN OCTOBER. BUSINESS OWNERS LIKE LANE CHOW ARE CONCERNED THE CLOSURE WILL HURT HER POCKETS. BUSINESS WILL BE SLOW FOR MY BUSINESS BECAUSE THEY DON’T LETS CARS COME BY THE BUSINESS, BUT IT’S OKAY. THE RAIL LINE WILL HAVE EIGHT NEW STATIONS TO SERVE THE CRENSHAW ENGEL WOOD AND LAX COMMUNITIES. PEOPLE WE SPEAK WITH LOOK FORWARD TO HAVING MORE ACCESS AROUND THE COUNTY. IT SHOULD BE CONVENIENT FOR THE ONES THAT CAN’T GET FROM POINT A TO B. YOU JUST HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT AND BE PATIENT. EVERYTHING THEY’RE DOING IS TO IMPROVE THE CIRCUMSTANCES.
