    knock-down [signal]
Slang term for the act of a train moving past a signal, causing the signal system to register the track as occupied, thereby changing the signal to its most-restrictive indication.

  • Reply Don Baker March 12, 2019 at 2:54 pm

This is a sham!! The train did not knock down any signals.

  • Reply Greatdome99 March 13, 2019 at 2:02 am

Notice that green traffic lights on highways are below red, while on RRs the green is above the red. This is called "Irish Persuasion" or 'high green' when illuminated. The tradition goes back to the ball system where a 'high ball' hoisted on a rope meant proceed, hence the term "highball."

That appeared to be alot of Lime stone up front. interesting to see the many railroads on the Auto-racks including BNSF, Union Pacific, Norfolk and southern. and as long as that train was it is interesting that there was no dpu. although it is very flat grade there in florida.

  • Reply Cathrope1 May 27, 2019 at 2:13 am

It could be due to editing and maybe he did, but I swear that school bus did not do a proper railroad stop, and even if he did, there is no way he didn't see that train lights so the bus driver should've stopped until the train had past. I've been driving school bus for a year now.

What got me was that the train track alarm should have went off at least a quarter-mile back regardless of the speed it were traveling. And of course anyone rushing after the train left did they bother to look both ways?

  • Reply Deisy Ortiz June 21, 2019 at 2:50 pm

This video reminds my home in Garland Texas because almost every day 1 to 5 times a day I always hear the train horn everyday. One is because in the Dallas Area we have this type of transport Co. named Dart (Dallas Area Rapid Transport) and Another train named DGNO (Dallas Garland Northeastern Rail Road.)I also live near a train station (freight) because there the Kansas City Southern Rail Road, the DGNO passes there several trains do from the same company and 2 steam engines.

  • Reply brslib01 June 29, 2019 at 1:55 am

Isn't a school bus supposed to stop at the crossing and proceed only when it is determined to be safe?

Is mixed freight unusual in Florida? Ever freight train I see is intermodal, gondolas, auto racks, tankers, rock hoppers, grain hoppers, etc. Occasionally, I also see steel transport cars. Then again, I live in Chicago, and where I live I have commuter and freight run by my house 24 hours a day. I am 2 blocks from the tracks and it still shakes my house.
