Holy crap! That's a lot of steps, would love to ride my mountain bike down there. How long did it take you to climb to the top?

I looked up the details for Russell Square tube station, where I foolishly decided to take the offer of the stairs rather than wait for the lift, that is only 171 steps.

At least you could see the top and see your progess, the tube staircases are spiral.

The station seemed to have a wartime utility vibe to it, like the German Underground Hospital on Guernsey.

My reaction to heights must be getting worse, I got mild vertigo from your shot down the stairs. I would be worried that I would "freeze" on a step and have difficulty restarting.

It genuinely looks like it can be used as an nuclear bunker do you have the build date. There is something more to this why go to the trouble of building this station when it's not even use that much.

  • Reply TheFalloutBunny September 14, 2016 at 7:22 am

Holy moly Im sure if you used this train station every day and walked up and down there you would stay fit until you are 90 years old … or you get really sore knees and ankles XD

  • Reply Meg Igarashi September 14, 2016 at 1:17 pm

I feel extremely lazy by just looking at the stairs haha
Cool shots though 😀 I wanna film something here 😀

Man!!!!! I knew that the Japanese are heath conscious but this is going way too far. I might be obese but even I know that too much exercise can in fact be unhealthy for the human body. I love the Japanese with their anime and manga and especially their trains but I draw the line with this station.

  • Reply espn0o July 9, 2017 at 6:05 pm

I would pass out halfway up those stairs

  • Reply Mara Waka August 2, 2017 at 1:05 pm

I drove to Doai Station to see it from Tokyo. It was very impressive to see it, even if coming up the stairs nearly killed me!

  • Reply Koma- san May 27, 2018 at 2:06 pm

    look's like it's abandoned

  • Reply GMD Thread8 July 13, 2018 at 7:51 am

How about Ho Man Tin station in Hong Kong?

  • Reply Phillip Mulligan July 22, 2018 at 9:22 pm

That stairwell would be a terrifying death trap if there was a subway fire. It's lemgth upwards would create a blast furnace effect if a fire goes out of control anywhere in the subway station. Like a drift mine.

If you had to slip over and fall down some stairs, god I hope I dont fall down those ones

  • Reply The Truth September 27, 2018 at 8:52 pm

  • Reply EclipseMT November 14, 2018 at 12:53 am

We just need someone to BLJ up the stairs now.

  • Reply TECHNOOBER November 18, 2018 at 1:31 am

Wow no escalator or elevators thats no way to treat your elders.

  • Reply Otaku 101 November 24, 2018 at 12:51 pm

    You think Roppongi is deep?

  • Reply Daniel Irvin November 30, 2018 at 1:03 am

Very neat. Added to the (growing) list of things to see.

  • Reply Danny S December 5, 2018 at 4:13 pm

No escalator is unacceptable! I would assume that low ridership at that station would be to blame. Very cool vid 🙂

  • Reply Bruno Siebra December 12, 2018 at 2:00 pm

Great place for a horror movie

  • Reply Владимир Зарубин January 1, 2019 at 11:16 am
